It’s Thursday, which means we gotta talk COMICS! Sorry I’m late in the day again– a trend I need to nip in the bud. This week is super-short, so let’s roll to it already.

The Amazing Spider-man #575 Writer Joe Kelly, Pencils Chris Bachalo, Inks Bachalo / Mendoza / Townsend / Vey, Colors Bachalo & Fabela
Marvel Comics $2.99 {Title’s sales in September were est. 82,457 units w/ iss 570 ranking 10 , est. 73,661 units w/ issue 571 ranking 14, and est. 75,143 units w/ iss 572 ranking 13}
The conclusion of the two part Joe Kelly / Chris Bachalo “Family Ties” is good stuff, but it suffers from the fact that it is… well, the conclusion. Again, the art is joyous– what Bachalo does with Spidey-eyes makes zero sense in terms of costume capabilities but it is SO MUCH FUN TO LOOK AT. Kelly’s jokes are crisp and on target– it’s like a superhero episode of “Burn Notice” as our lead offers his inner monologue. When said monologue turns into inner DIALOG we are given a moment that would make Deadpool laugh near the book’s end. The “save the inner city kids” storyline all wraps up just a bit too neatly, but I feel that is more the fault of Kelly having to put the toys back in the box than anything else. I still find myself very happy I’ve thrown this book onto my pull list, and I’m looking forward to the Rivera-drawn Punisher/Spidey team-up next week.
Like I mentioned at the open, we don’t have anything else to cover this week, so allow me to offer an aside. Usually, when I have less than two books in a week, I offer some commentary on the world, but I’m more interested this week in getting some feedback from YOU. I’ve been griping about the quality of some of what I’ve been reading, and it’s time for some CHOICES to be made. With the addition of Spider-man to the pull, and with Umbrella Academy about to return, it’s simply become time to let something go. While this may make for more weeks where I’m giving asides, the fact is that I just don’t have the coin to buy everything (and neither do you), so why don’t we just stick to the good stuff? I’ve been reading three books that I started off enjoying, but now am increasingly feeling as if I’m reading them only to be in the know. So, I’m asking for your help:
A disclaimer– I’m inviting you into the decision, but unless you really come out swinging, I may fall back on my own opinions. Make your voice heard by voting, and maybe back yourself up by weighing in via the comments below.
Next week I’ll be back with FIVE (count ‘em FIVE) comics to review. I don’t know if there will be any delays associated with Veteran’s Day, but I’ll try to get you as many of my lofty opinions as early as I can! Until then– well, go buy some COMICS!
Still pissed about "Ghost Boxes".
I have decided that you must continue to read Batman. First, I have no time to catch up on it but am morbidly curious as to how this whole R.I.P. crap turns out and I need your commentary so I can know what to think about it once it all hits the fan. Basically, I’m saying you have to suffer through one of the worst Batman ideas ever for my sake. Hope you don’t mind.
Ouch. That’s cruel of you. On a side note:

Robin, Nightwing, AND Birds of Prey all given the boot. This would indicate that Bruce may actually stop being the Batman.
In voting news– it would appear that two of four “cut it” votes fall on the Bat, while two fall on Guardians. This upcoming Guardians will be one heckuva litmus test– it debuts a new team (in the seventh issue— who goes to an all new line up after six issues?!?)!
