On Claremont, the X-Men, the Exiles, and Loss
When it comes to comics, my favorite team that isn’t the Mighty Mutanimals will forever be the X-Men. The title didn’t start perfectly, no. Few of the early tales would I call “classic”. But with the launch of the “All New” team… or as I call them, the “International Team” the book moved in bold new directions. Over the years it was the direction of Chris Claremont that made the book eternally iconic.
“Iconic” is not what comes to mind when I think of the current X-Men. Read More »
LMFAO @ Mark Waid is Evil
So, we appear to have a banner ad that was paid for today by someone who wants to remind us all that Mark Waid is Evil. I would assume we got this banner ad because we have been good, at least in the past, at talking comic books. I really ought to get my column on the matter going again, BUT THAT IS NEITHER HERE NOR THERE.
For now, since the website “Mark Waid is Evil” doesn’t seem to say anything other than… well, that he’s evil, I would like to instead offer that Mark Waid is a massive tool. Not that Erik Larsen isn’t being a douche, but if you read that article, notice that within the first half dozen comments, Mr. Waid is mouthing off like a forum troll.
This is, no doubt, one of the more entertaining parts of comic book fandom. Michael Bay doesn’t waste much breath calling Christopher Nolan pretentious, nor does Christopher Nolan call out Michael Bay for sucking huge. But Kirkman versus Bendis? Hell yes.
And Now Ya Do What They Told Ya
Roe v. Wade was decided January 22, 1973… and in the years since that I’ve been on this earth people seem to be more agitated one way or the other with each passing year when it comes to abortion.
What I find remarkable is that four fifths of the people who get caught up in the issue are blinded to all logic and reason. This includes you.
Abortion is the ending of a life. It is.
Abortion cannot be legislated into being stopped. It will always exist.
Reported rape and incest make up something less than 2% of abortions.
If abortion was illegal—what would you do to the women who have them illegally?
Anyone with differing stances as to life on capital punishment and abortion needs a long talking to.
Your neighbor is sitting in their house and someone is outside waiting to steal at least five grand and later nine grand a year from them for eighteen years. Best case scenario, the person outside will put your neighbor position where you’re sick and a socially frowned at for nine months and then be alleviated. Do you have a right to tell your neighbor to let the guest in the door? Because I bet you’d consider shooting them if they were at your door.
49 million U.S. abortions. That’s a whole lot of death.
But I can’t say I know how we’d feed all those extra mouths and their kids.
If you’re pro anything, you’re probably wrong. So calm down, think, and stop making this a “versus” thing. Stop taking orders from someone and start thinking about it for yourself.
